user friendly feeders

Designed on farm for farmers

Milk Bar feeders are made from the highest quality polyethylene to withstand the busiest calf operation. All our feeders are born from our own practical experience so we are 100% confident you'll find them as easy to use as we do. The teat channel is low to reduce milk wastage and there are no threads or valves to trap bacteria. Milk Bar feeders come fully assembled with teats and hook fitted and ready to use!

100 % Bunt Proof Ezi Lock Hooks!

Lock onto rails or gates up to 75mm.

Feeders interstack with teats fitted.

Sounds simple but t's unique to Milk Bar

and makes handling feeders quick and

easy.

Feeders come with either large cut out handles like this Milk Bar 10, or secure finger grips.

Feeders have a sloping front to protect your knuckles from bruising when training calves.

Hooks that work in every situation

Milk Bar feeders are fitted with three different types of hooks depending on the size of feeder and to fit any shed configuration.

Moulded

These hooks are moulded into the feeder and fit 25, 40, 50mm rails.

Most feeders fitted with moulded hooks have a self locking catch to secure the

feeder to the rail.

Aluminium

Used on feeders where hooks are too far apart to be adjusted simultaneously.
Pre drilled for use on different rail or gate widths.

Ezi Lock Hooks

The ultimate in feeder hooks!

Ezi Lock Hooks are fully adjustable and lock the feeder to the gate or rail.

Calves cannot knock the feeder off the rail but perhaps most importantly the feeders are pulled firm to the rail and do not tip forward. This means all calves have the same amount of milk until the very last drop.

Feeders can be flipped upside down to keep the teat away from the calves.

Open Feeders

Milk Bar feeders are made from the highest quality UV stabilised polyethylene.
The teat channel is low to reduce milk wastage and there are no threads or valves to trap bacteria.

All Milk Bar feeders are fitted with Milk Bar Teats. Calves fed with Milk Bar Teats suckle and nurse the teat correctly which means they cannot cheat and gulp milk quickly. This equalises the drinking speeds so calves get their fair share.

Straight Feeders

Straight feeders are designed to sit on a gate at the front of the calf pen. Straight feeders are a practical solutions when you have larger groups of calves and do not wish to enter the calf pen to fill a free standing feeder. Because the feeders are long to allow room for shoulders and heads we have incorporated bracing to stop the feeders bowing. The aluminium hooks are predrilled and can be adjusted to fit your gates. Straight feeders have some weight so it may be a two person job to remove them from the rails.  In some cases the Milk Bar 20 may be a better solution or two Milk Bar 10 feeders places together. Feel free to give us a call on 0800 104 119 to discuss which option might be best for your shed. Milk Bar Straight Feeders are only available in New Zealand.

Teat Height

It’s important for the calf that the feeder is positioned at the right height. You want to hang your feeder so the teat is around knee height, about 60cm or 24 inches. This puts the calf into a more natural feeding position.

Most farms have feeders too high. The calf has to reach up for the teat, she then pulls on the teat and can damage it but more importantly the oesophageal groove cannot function correctly when she is stretching up.

Think about the height of your cow’s udders, this is the natural height that the calf should drink from. She is not a giraffe!

This video shows how calves adopt a natural feeding position when the teats are at the right height.
