Milk Bar Group Feeders
For farmers in New Zealand, Ireland and Australia, group feeding from Day 1 is normal. In fact we're pretty sure we've never seen an individual system in any of these countries! Calves are born in the spring so there is a large volume of calves in a short time, making groups of calves the same age an easy task.
There are many benefits to group feeding, most significantly the reduction of time, labour and the improvements in calf behaviour and a lot of study being done around the benefits of group feeding. Learn more about group feeding here!
We love to see calves in groups. They interact and zoom around and in the winter, lie close together for warmth.
We've developed a full range to give you the perfect feeder to suit your shed and system.
We go onto hundreds of farms every year and one of the things they all have in common is that none of them are the same! Rails vary from wood to pipes to gates and all different widths.
So we made fully adjustable hooks to help out and if you have rails in one pen and gates in another, it doesn't matter, your feeder will sit nice and tight and won't tip forward.
With the feeder sitting upright, all calves have the same amount of milk until the very last drop.
100% bunt proof, even big calves cannot knock the feeder off the rail and they can be flipped upside down to fully drain.
And, they last for ages :)

The Milk Bar 2 Compartment is made for the Buddy System where two calves are paired from birth. The compartment allows you to monitor the calves to be sure they are a good match.
In some countries, it is law to have calves paired and farmers using a bucket system or a fast flow teat find this challenging with the cross suckling problems. The controlled flow of the Milk Bar teat solves the cross suckling issue so you can pair your calves with confidence.

Milk Bar Straight Line Feeders
Designed specifically for New Zealand gates, the Milk Bar Straight Line feeders are designed to sit along the front of the calf pen.
The feeders are long to allow room for shoulders and heads so we have incorporated bracing to stop the feeders bowing.
The aluminium hooks are predrilled and can be adjusted to fit your gates. Straight feeders have some weight so it may be a two person job to remove them from the rails.
In some cases the Milk Bar 20 may be a better solution or two Milk Bar 10 feeders places together. Feel free to ask us here to discuss which option might be best for your shed. Because of the length, Milk Bar Straight Line feeders are not practical to freight and are only available in New Zealand.

The Milk Bar 15 Compartment is a specialised unit to fill the needs of a few select farms.
Using the Milk Bar Teat is what makes feeding a large group of calves with a compartment feeder possible. The Milk Bar Teat controls and regulates the milk flow and delivers a much more even feed. This is important for compartment feeders as if one calf finishes first, she will bunt her neighbour off and cause all sorts of mischief.
Feel free to ask us here if the Milk Bar 15 Compartment is suitable for your farm.
It’s important for the calf that the feeder is positioned at the right height. You want to hang your feeder so the teat is around knee height, about 60cm or 24 inches. This puts the calf into a more natural feeding position.
Most farms have feeders too high. The calf has to reach up for the teat, she then pulls on the teat and can damage it but more importantly the oesophageal groove cannot function correctly when she is stretching up.
Think about the height of your cow’s udders, this is the natural height that the calf should drink from.
She is not a giraffe!
